Explore The Wonder And Beauty Of South Africa
The Cape Peninsula is considered one of the most beautiful locations in the world. The peninsula is defined by its magnificent mountainous range and is located in the dazzlingly isolated southern Atlantic.
The 11 Languages of South Africa?s Strong Identity South Africa has a unique colonial history that carries over to the present day, and sets it apart from the rest of Africa. Travelers to South Africa are often drawn to the interesting multicultural nature of a modern country that still confronts racial issues from its past head on. Dutch sailors and settlers occupied the country for a large part of the 17th and 18th centuries. They imported slaves from India, Madagascar, and Indonesia to make up for a shortage of skilled labor.
The Peninsula?s splendor is best experienced by taking one of two very different coastal drives to the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve. One, the popular Chapman?s Peak is on the west. The route extends from the cosmopolitan seaboard of Sea Point through the renowned and naturally beautiful beaches of Clifton, passing the peaceful and rustic Hout Bay, driving close to the cliffs on Chapman?s Peak Drive and on toward the Noordhork?s Long Beach?s white length. The other, False Bay road is northward, and close to the mountains, crawling past the popular family beach, Fish Hoek, to Kalb Bay, a fish village noted for its colorful and unique location, and onto Muizenburg, famous for its secure swimming and great surf.
One other site to visit would be the City Bowl. Inside the City Bowl, life often centers on the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, a pulsating waterfront Mecca. This Waterfront is a historical site and working harbor that can offer hours of entertainment including shopping malls, arts and crafts markets, theaters and live music, and even entertainment showpieces including the Telkom Exploratorium and the Two Oceans Aquarium.
Wetlands, Whales, and Wine It has become much easier to enjoy the spectacular sights of South Africa since the end of apartheid. From the bustling city of Cape Town, visitors can hike the iconic Table Mountain National Park, and see the plateau?s top covered by an eerie layer of clouds. Visitors can also travel west to the Shipwreck Coast of the Cape of Good Hope and view a graveyard of ill-fated naval expeditions, whose well preserved remains add character to the stunning coastline. The abundance of whales is also a signature feature of South Africa?s coastline. Travelers can spend an afternoon in the Oceanside town of Hermanus, renowned for it its whale watching, or take a charter boat trip to catch a closer sight of the majestic creatures. A popular trip from Hermanus is the Garden Route, which winds through hidden nature reserves, remote coastal towns, national monuments, indigenous forests, and sea caves, and borders the peaceful desert highlands of the Karoo.
There are many museums and art galleries available. The Castle of Good Hope is located in the center of the city. Bo-Kaap cobbled streets are lined with charming old buildings. In contrast to the ancient buildings is South Africa?s first mosque. It also contrasts culturally with the country?s oldest homestead and wine farm located in the Cape, Groot Constantia. Historically, The Groot Constantia is linked on the Constantia wine route to the estates of Helderberg and Durbanville. The hills of Table Mountain or Lion?s Head, located only a short trip from the entertainment of Century City offer multiple areas to walk and climb.
Yet another local city, Century City, offers theme parks, malls, cineplexes, and entertainment centers. For a more colorful and relaxing contrast, one can choose from a myriad of walks and climbs to view both local fauna and flora. These walks include up Table Mountain, through the Silvermine or Tyberberg Nature Reserves, through the Newlands Forest, through the Cape of Good Hope or Helderberg Nature Reserves, or one of the smaller inner-city wildlife habitats.
