Could We Run Our Cars On Water?

Could We Run Our Cars On Water?

by Miles Moore

When gasoline gets to $10 gallon we are all going to have to change if we want to survive. Perhaps it is time we looked at using water to power our cars.

Oil supplies are being used up even while demand is growing around the world. We are rapidly approaching a time when the oil that can be pumped out of the ground is less than the world’s demand for oil. When that day arrives you might think that $10 for a gallon of gasoline would be cheap.

We need to act fast to develop alternative energy supplies. We should be responding to this potential crisis to the same degree we would react to war. Everybody needs to feel involved in reducing our demand for imported oil by improving the insulation in properties and using their cars in a more economical way and using less gas.

I remember my teacher telling me that water was made of oxygen and hydrogen. I never could understand how that made a liquid but I do know hydrogen is a very powerful fuel and could be used as an alternative to gas.

Now hobbyists and engineers have developed easy to build systems that can make hydrogen gas from water. The gas can then be used as part of the fuel used to run your car engine.

You can easily find the parts locally and assemble them in your garage. They say you can fit the kit to your car in a couple of hours and be ready to run your car on water.

The idea of using water to power our cars has always been a dream and even with these systems you do still need to buy and use gas but adding hydrogen should reduce the amount of gas you have to buy and use.

Some of the claims made about these kits are remarkable. There are reports that people have halved their gas consumption but most are more down to earth and reckon on saving 20% or so which is a pretty good saving on the cost of buying gas.
